The Loxford Practice hosted a successful Diabetes Workshop for all members of the public on Wednesday 14 November 2018. See pictures from the event below.
The event, which was led by our GPs and Pharmacists, was well attended, mixed with a number of surgery staff, local residents and our patients. Attendees were able to learn more about Diabetes and answer any questions they had about the condition. Visitors also enjoyed free refreshments during the event.
This event was a great example of successful partnership between patient and our team and we would like to thank Derek, one of our own patients, for contributing to this amazing event and hosting an expert talk on Deiabetes.
Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person’s blood sugar level to become too high. There are 2 main types of Diabetes: type 1 and type 2. Type 2 diabetes is far more common than type 1. In the UK, around 90% of all adults with diabetes have type 2. People most at risk include those over the age of 40, those who are of a South Asian descent, and those who are overweight.
