The Loxford Practice will be hosting a Health & Wellness Open Day for all members of the public on Wednesday 16th November 2016 between 2.00pm and 4.00pm – all are welcome to attend. See poster below.

The event aims to raise awareness about and allow patients to experience a number of local health and social care service providers accessible through the surgery for our patients as well as other residents of Redbridge.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet PPG representatives and members of practice staff, particularly newer team members, and will be treated to FREE mini health checks, whilst younger visitors can enjoy FREE face painting.
The programme includes Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure who will be promoting their healthy lifestyles programmes which include Exercise on Referral, Sports in the Park, Antenatal and Postnatal Yoga, Family Fit and Fun Activities, and walk and cycle sessions.

Redbridge CVS (Council for Voluntary Services) is a free service committed to helping patients through simple targeted programmes such as TB Awareness and Fit for Fun. Also in attendance will be Fusion, a confidential service that provides support for young drug and alcohol users or those at risk of using, their family and friends, in addition to the Community Dental Service, on hand to deliver Oral Health advice.
IAPT Talking Therapies is a free NHS evidence-based talking therapy service for people 16 years old and over, who are worried or have low mood and they will be present in addition to the Community Diabetes Team who provide support for people over the age of 17 living with type one and type two diabetes, in addition to coordinating specialist support services such as nutrition, foot care and signposts to retinal screening for house bound patients and patients with learning difficulties.
FiND (Family Information Direct) is a ‘one stop’ information and advice service for families to get advice and signposting to Children’s Centres for 0-5 years, providing access to family health care, advice and guidance about bringing up children, early education and childcare, in addition to career and employment services to support parents who want to return to work or find training opportunities, and advice, guidance and practical support on many other areas that may affect family life; benefits entitlement, finding a school, housing issues, domestic violence, as well as drug and alcohol abuse.
Our local Loxford Children’s Centre brings together a range of services for children under five and their families such as family support, health and education and special educational needs.
Redbridge Concern for Mental Health work to promote and protect the mental health of the local community, raising mental health awareness and combating stigmas and discrimination as well as providing practical help, information and support, and they will be present on the day to engage with patients.
The Integrate Sexual Health team at BHR University Hospital provide ‘one stop shop’ clinics where all sexual health and contraceptive needs can be met for young people, STI and contraception services into a patient accessible integrated service. The aim is to have a positive impact on service users’ personal and social attitude to sex and sexuality, alongside a positive impact on the incidence of sexual ill health.
Terrence Higgins Trust is the UK’s largest HIV and Sexual Health charity, and have a dedicated HIV prevention and sexual health promotion programme in Redbridge, aiming to enable people with HIV to live healthy lives free from prejudice and discrimination, as well as good providing free contraception and confidential sexual health advice and information to local people.
Redbridge Carers aims to make a positive difference to the lives of unpaid carers in the diverse communities of Redbridge by providing them with a range of services, support and recognition, and Healthwatch Redbridge is all about local voices being able to influence the delivery and design of local services.
Age UK Redbridge aim to maintain older peoples independence allowing them to stay safe and healthy.
A number of other services will be present for the whole family to benefit from.
AT Medics practices schedule regular PPG meetings with SMS reminders, dedicated PPG notice boards and a translator if necessary, and are delighted to be hosting this event at The Loxford Practice.
